Groups of volunteers this week have banded together to provide wireless internet and Internet protocol (VoIP) phone services to shelters across South eastern Louisiana and Mississippi. Using radio transmitters and satellite dishes, the donated services have allowed victims and emergency personnel to contact loved ones as well as work towards unifying an emergency communications system.
